The 25 km-long coral reef enclosing the Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin turns this remarkable area into a true nursery for aquatic wildlife. The area’s extraordinary biodiversity creates seabeds teeming with fish of many species. The hawksbill sea turtle — highly prolific though endangered — comes to breed on the islet’s beaches at various times of the year. Crabs, molluscs, starfish and sea cucumbers, as well as birds, have also made it their home.
